About the university
In 1960, on the basis of the Alapaevsky Metallurgical Plant, a stronghold of the Ural Polytechnic Institute was founded. S.M. Kirov. Efforts of the leading enterprises of the city created a training and laboratory base allowing to implement a higher level of the educational process and in May 1965, on the basis of the request of the city executive committee to the collegium of the Ministry of Higher Education, the strongpoint was transformed into a training and consulting center. (UKP-UPI). The need for the organization of the item was confirmed by a set of students studying. In 1967 440 students-part-time students, including 328 directly living in Alapaevsk, the rest from the city of Artemovsky started to study. By this time, for conducting educational process from outside, UPI allocates regular units of the teaching, auxiliary and administrative-managerial personnel. In 1972, the metallurgical plant granted to the UKP UPI a new 3-storey building, located in the center of the city, at the address: 624600 Sverdlovsk Region. Alapaevsk city Lenin's 10.
