About the university
A Fundação Minerva - Cultura - Ensino e Investigação Científica viu o seu interesse público reconhecido pelo Decreto-Lei n.º 117/2003, de 14 de Junho, tendo sido instituída mediante transformação da Cooperativa de Ensino Universidade Lusíada (CEUL). O referido diploma contém, em anexo, os seus estatutos, os quais no ponto relativo aos fins e actividades (artigo 4.º) indica que a Fundação Minerva prossegue fins culturais e científicos, incluindo os de carácter educacional, mediante a promoção do ensino em todos os seus graus, mormente o superior, da investigação científica e de todas as actividades conexas, cabendo-lhe em especial assegurar a manutenção e o funcionamento regular das Universidades Lusíada. Por aí se vê que o escopo estatutário da Fundação é muito amplo, envolvendo actividades de natureza cultural e científica, para além daquelas que constituem o desenvolvimento natural do projecto universitário "Lusíada", que hoje se alarga no território português a Lisboa, Porto e Vila Nova de Famalicão e nos países de língua oficial portuguesa República Popular de Angola (Luanda, Benguela e Cabinda) e à República Democrática de São Tomé e Príncipe.
