On May 25, 1914, the University of Tucumán was officially inaugurated. The rector-founder and fundamental manager was Dr. Juan B. Terán, who affirmed that "like any intellectual foundation, the opening of the house is the starting point of an indefinite evolution". The founding project, synthesized in the motto "Pedes in terra ad sidera visus" (Foot in the earth and the look in the sky), assigns a regional vocation to him with modern character, attentive to the science of the time and open to the world . Nationalised in 1921 with the promulgation of Law 11.027, the UNT begins a new era in which teaching and research will be its central objectives. It is manifested in the Alberdi Theater, in the Cultural Centers Eugenio Flavio Virla and Ricardo Rojas, and in the Archaeological and MUNT museums; Places where academic and cultural activities of the province are developed. These centers are linked to the Symphonic and Youth Orchestras, and to the University choirs and of Children and Young Singers, since their activities are developed in these rooms of artistic expression. In addition, the UNT has its own radio station, which day by day forms an indissoluble part of the activity of the citizens of San Miguel de Tucumán.
