University of Aconcagua

In 1965, two educational establishments were created in Mendoza: the Higher Institute of Enterprise and the Higher Institute of Psychology. Both were merged in 1966 under the name of Aconcagua Institute of Higher Education. After an extensive and profound evaluation, the founding assembly members decided to adjust and change the denominations indicated. Thus was born the Faculty of Social and Administrative Sciences and the Faculty of Psychology, respectively. In addition, the creation of a new faculty was established: the Faculty of Economics and Commercial Sciences, whose activities began in 1967. The three faculties were integrated under a new category and denomination: Aconcagua University. The Institution obtained the definitive recognition like Private University in 1973 (Decree 2227, National Executive Power). The University of Aconcagua, from its origins and uninterruptedly, is dedicated to the higher academic formation. In addition it counts on the School of the University of the Aconcagua, of secondary level, adapted since 2007 to the Law of National Education. Also, it develops a Cycle of Complementación Curricular, the Degree Cycle of San Pedro Nolasco, in agreement with the Institution homónima. Scientific research is represented by the Research Council of the University of Aconcagua (CIUDA), which reports directly to the Rectorate and to the research institutes of each of the academic units. As a significant milestone, the institutional evaluation carried out by the National Commission for University Evaluation and Accreditation (CONEAU) in 2006, and the accreditations of the degree programs (Medicine, Computing and Psychology) and Postgraduate studies, also in charge Of the CONEAU.
