About the university
De Hogeschool Gent, kortweg HoGent, is een van de 17 Vlaamse hogescholen. Ze ontstond in 1995 bij de hervorming van het hoger onderwijs in Vlaanderen uit een fusie van dertien onderwijsinstellingen. De vestigingen van de hogeschool liggen verspreid in Gent en voor een gedeelte in Aalst. Er studeren intussen meer dan 13.000 studenten. De Hogeschool Gent is samengesteld uit drie faculteiten, een School of Arts en een interfacultair Centrum voor Ondernemen. De algemene leiding van de hogeschool wordt waargenomen door het inrichtingsorgaan, het bestuurscollege en de algemeen directeur. Elke faculteit wordt geleid door een decaan, die belast is met het dagelijks bestuur van zijn of haar faculteit. De Hogeschool Gent maakt deel uit van de Associatie Universiteit Gent, kortweg AUGent.
