ESA Saint-Luc Liège

Like all Saint-Luc schools, ESA Saint-Luc Liège is founded by the Congregation of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. Their main objective is to train, with a spirit of openness and respect, artists who are reliable and experienced in their conduct and work. The teaching put in place at this time already concerns all the industries and all the professions related to art: they are the "Arts and Crafts". Created in 1890, Saint-Luc school in Liège was established on rue Sainte Marie in 1899, thanks to a gift, on a plot of land. The gradual construction allows the professors and students to settle there in 1908. The Saint-Luc school will continue to grow, both in the space and in the range of artistic training offered. Little by little, the very structure of education evolves, distinguishing higher education courses, secondary education courses and social advancement courses. The different schools are developing so much that over time, different buildings are acquired in the neighborhood, rue Louvrex and Boulevard d'Avroy. However, this is not enough to house all students and a move is being considered. In 2000, ESA and the Higher Institute of Architecture (now the Ulg's Faculty of Architecture) set up in Outremeuse, in the completely renovated Fonck barracks, a few blocks from the first buildings Hosted the first Saint-Luc courses (the premises of the Saint-André Institute). While the ESA Saint-Luc de Liège framework has evolved well since 1890, the same concern for hospitality and professionalisation continues to dwell in it.
