University of Zenic

The history of higher education in Zenica starts in 1959 when it was founded Higher Technical School. During 1959 and 1960, intensive efforts were made to establish a college, a decision of the National Committee of Zenica and confirmation of this decision by the Executive Council of NR BiH in 1961. Higher Technical College became the Faculty of Metallurgy in Zenica as part of the University of Sarajevo. The next step in the development of scientific thought and the development of higher education in Zenica was a founding Metallurgy Institute "Hasan Brkic" (now "Kemal") on 1 October 1961. On the establishment of a second Zenica Faculty are waiting until 1977. March 31 this year, the decision of the Workers' Council of Community Organizations fundamental Zenica Steelworks and the Municipal Assembly of Zenica on separation of specialized mechanical department at the Faculty of Metallurgy in Zenica in the independent college, founded in Mechanical Engineering in Zenica. Two mentioned faculties have been a number of years been the backbone of higher education in Zenica, and on them are educated a large number of experts who have been mainstay industries in the Zenica area, and beyond. In accordance with the needs of the development of science and its application in practice, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in 1981 constituted Department of Mechanical Engineering, who in 1989 became the Institute for Mechanical Engineering Faculty in Zenica.
