About the university
The Federal University of Uberlândia (Urfa) is a public foundation, a member of the Indirect Federal Office under the Ministry of Education (MEC). The institution also with the name of the University of Uberlândia (Unu) was authorized to act from the Legislative Decree no. 762 of August 14, 1969, and the federalized Law No. 6532, May 24, 1978. With seven campuses - four in Uberlandia (MG), one in Itiyutaba (MG), one in Monte Carmelo (MG) and one in Patos de Minas (MG) - UrFU is the main reference center in the field of science and technology in a wide area of the central part Brazil, which includes a mountain triangle, Alto Paranaiba, northwest and northern parts of the mines, south and southwest of Goias, north of St. Paul and east of Mato Grosso do Sul and Mato Grosso, UrFU has didactic, scientific, administrative autonomy and financial and asset management, in accordance with the law. Its organization and activities are regulated by federal law, its Charter, General Regulations and Additional Standards.
