About the university
On February 22, 1940, by decision of the Council of People's Commissars of the BSSR, a teacher's institute was founded in Grodno, the development of which was interrupted by the Great Patriotic War. Already in 1944 the lessons continued, and in parallel the teacher's institute was transformed into a pedagogical institute (with three faculties - physics and mathematics, literary and foreign languages). In 1957 the institute was named after Yanka Kupala. In 1967, the Institute received the first defense of a doctoral dissertation, and in 1969 a postgraduate study was opened. On May 1, 1978 the Pedagogical Institute was transformed into the Grodno State University named after Yanka Kupala. September 1, 2010 - the introduction of the system of electronic student tickets [1]. The second (after BSU) educational institution in the Republic of Belarus, where the system of electronic student tickets is implemented.
