About the university
The idea of the creation of the University of the Mountains (UdM) sprang from a deep reflection on the state of higher education in Cameroon, initiated since the 1990s by men and women from the academic world, Business world and the various professional categories gathered within the Association for Education and Development (AED) . It emerged from this reflection that, despite the creation of new universities, the State is no longer able to satisfy all the training needs of young Cameroonians. As a result, these young people throw themselves by the thousands on the road of exile in search of university institutions host. It also seemed important to us to promote in our country an academic training better rooted , not only in our cultural, socio-economic and environmental realities, but also in the sub-region of Central Africa. To achieve this objective, UdM intended to: • Create pathways that are absent or poorly represented in the Cameroonian and sub-regional academic landscape • Provide a sufficiently attractive and convincing training and development framework to limit the exodus of young people to foreign countries • Foster a genuine interaction between The University and professional circles
