About the university
Le Collège Montmorency a été fondé le 5 novembre 1969. Il devenait ainsi le premier établissement d'enseignement supérieur à Laval. Contrairement à plusieurs cégeps, il n'a pas été créé à partir de maisons d'éducation existantes. Les premiers étudiants montmorenciens ont été accueillis à l'automne 1973, dans les locaux de l'école secondaire Saint-Maxime. C'est en 1976 que le bâtiment actuel sur le boulevard de l'Avenir a été inauguré. Au fil du temps, la popularité du Collège Montmorency ne se dément pas. Des quelques centaines d'étudiants et des installations temporaires qui le constituaient à ses débuts, le Collège s'est hissé parmi les cégeps les plus importants du Québec avec plus de 7000 étudiants à l'enseignement régulier et sa grande carte des programmes d'études. Il est le seul cégep public au Québec à offrir les programmes de Techniques d'orthèses et de prothèses orthopédiques, de Techniques de muséologie et de Techniques de sécurité incendie.
