About the university
Created officially on May 15, 1968, the Cégep de Trois-Rivières opened its doors on September 10 of the same year, welcoming 2,177 students. It offered its first year of 18 programs: 7 to 11 pre-university sector and the technical sector. The Cégep de Trois-Rivières is the result of the consolidation of the collegial teaching functions of eight institutions: the Trois-Rivières Institute of Technology, the Stationery Institute of the Province of Quebec, the Séminaires Saint-Antoine, Saint- Joseph and de Nicolet, the École d'aide sociale, the École des infirmières and the Collège Marie-de-l'Incarnation. In addition to its two main pavilions, the Cégep has residences, three technology transfer centers and the Champlain Astronomy Observatory . Jean-Denis Leduc, who ran the establishment from 2003 to 2006, has realized several real estate projects such as the Desjardins Concert Hall and the inauguration of the Théâtre du Cégep de Trois-Rivières. Since June 2011, Raymond-Robert Tremblay has been in charge of the college. Other highlights of the history of the Cégep de Trois-Rivières include the inauguration of the Diablos Stadium on September 11, 2004.
