About the university
The history of the CEGEP is very similar to what happened in the evolution of CEGEPs and Classical Colleges in the province of Quebec, and it was also the subject of a learned work by Marie-Paule Malouin , Historian and sociologist by profession. It was in 1950 that was founded the Externat classic of Longueuil , supposed to serve all the South Shore. Some commentators lamented the lack of scientific training offered to these young people. In the early 1960s, the teaching of Greek was abandoned and girls were admitted. In the late 1960s, mixed lay people became more numerous in teaching than the Franciscan brothers.
