About the university
Created in 1942, the Conservatoire was entrusted, under its enabling Act, with the mission of training talented young musicians and actors, as well as of playing an important role in artistic training in Québec. In 1989, this mission was reviewed by Lise Bacon, the then Minister of Cultural Affairs, in preparation for the adoption of the Cultural Policy of the Government of Québec in 1992 and the revision of the Act respecting the Conservatoire de musique et d’art dramatique in 1994. Made up of three components, this mission was again reviewed by all the directors of the Conservatoire in 2001.
