About the university
U. Alberto Hurtado was created on October 20, 1997 by the Society of Jesus. In a context marked by enormous socio-cultural transformations, the idea was to offer the country an educational project based on the Jesuit tradition of 450 years and 200 institutions of higher education in the world. The University as heir of the Jesuit educational tradition, projects in the academic field the spirit of San Alberto Hurtado with which we want to continue marking our epoch. Contributing to the development of the person and the promotion of a more just society, in Chile and Latin America, through research, teaching and extension of quality.
