About the university
Nanjing Information Engineering University enjoys the reputation of "China's cradle of meteorological talents", its predecessor Nanjing Meteorological Institute was founded in 1960, 1978 for the national key university, in 2004 changed its name to Nanjing Information Engineering University, Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, Ministry of Education and China Meteorological Bureau to build three parties, as well as the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government and the State Oceanic Administration to build the national key universities, with a complete bachelor, master, doctoral education system, with post-doctoral research station. The Department of Atmospheric Sciences ranks first in the first level of the Ministry of Education.
