About the university
Huainan Normal University, formerly Huainan Teachers College, was founded in 1958, suspended after the nationwide adjustment of higher education in 1962 and reestablished in 1977. In 1999, Huainan Teachers College, Huainan Institute of Education and Huainan Normal School merged and in 2000 evolved into Huainan Normal University. It is a regular provincial full-time normal university of undergraduate education. The university was granted the right to award the bachelor degree in 2004 and obtained good prize in Assessment of Work Level of Undergraduate Teaching in Colleges and Universities by Ministry of Education in 2007. In 2009, it was confirmed as a provincial unit for postgraduate training and began its postgraduate education jointly with Anhui University in 2010. Located at the foot of Mount Bagongshan and beside the Huaihe River, the university campus is full of pleasant scenes and strong humanistic atmosphere so that it has been regarded as “Garden-like Unit”. It covers an area of about 81 hectares with a building area 360,000 square meters. The university consists of 4 schools and 11 departments.
