About the university
Guangxi University was established in October 1928. Its first president was the celebrated scientist and educator Ma Junwu. In 1936, Guangxi University was molded into a comprehensive university with disciplines in the liberal arts, sciences, engineering, agriculture and medicine. In 1939, Guangxi University developed into a national university and by 1949 it expanded into one with 5 colleges and 22 departments.
