National Sun Yat-sen University

National Sun Yat-sen University is a public, research-center-oriented research university in Sizihwan, Gushan District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. In response to the increasing industrialization of Taiwan, NSYSU was founded in 1980 as a re-established version of the original Sun Yat-sen University. This re-establishment has been made possible through the efforts of alumni of both the original Sun Yat-sen University in China and the historical Moscow Sun Yat-sen University in the Soviet Union. After entering 21st century, NSYSU selected as a national top university and is known for its status of official think tank, with a unique campus in a natural fortress. More than half academic units in the university are research and graduate institutes, some of them were founded by the United States government and Japanese government and European Commission. NSYSU is one of the four universities that make up Taiwan's Public Ivy, the Taiwan Comprehensive University System (TCUS). For several years, NSYSU's business school, marine sciences college, social science college, and applied science programs has been ranked the first three places in Taiwan in various international rankings, and the university is also often ranked among the world's top 400 universities overall. NSYSU is organized into six colleges, its faculty maintain strong ties to industry and government officials. The graduate school alumni include a President of the Legislative Yuan, a Mayor of Kaohsiung, and a considerable amount of CEO of 500 largest companies in the world.
