About the university
The University of the Amazon is a public, national, coeducational university based in the city of Florencia, Caquetá, Colombia. Its mission, vision, objectives, functions and policies are oriented to contribute to the sustainable development of the Amazon region. The challenges and commitments are fully known, not only those derived from the current statutes that have to do with the development of programs according to the particularities of the region, with the qualification of human talent through the dissemination of scientific knowledge and Technological, and research in the Amazon, but those imposed by the World Declaration on Higher Education in the 21st Century : Vision and Action, adopted by UNESCO in October 1998 . The declaration expands the horizon and the task of Higher Education for the next millennium, in aspects on which already work: accreditation, coverage, access to university, internationalization, new educational technologies.
