About the university
The UACA (Autonomous University of Central America) was created by the Autonomous University of Central America foundation in early 1975; At the end of the same year it was authorized by Executive Decree No. 5622-E and No. 6359-E, and in August 1976 opened its doors to students. Looking in time and space, the best way to capture what the new institution should be, was to give general guidelines inspired by what is known as the Cambridge model. It would then have to function in the form of decentralized colleges. The university would be the basic unit of academic life and should be made up of professors with a desire to teach and students who are eager to learn. It was considered that federated or affiliated colleges should be the occasion for the most humane encounter between teachers and students that made possible the highest personalization, thanks to a more direct relationship between them, without the wild intervention of destructive bureaucracy. There were four colleges that began work: the Stvdivm Generale College, the Academic College, the Monterrey College and the Veritas College, in the following years, UACA had up to 16 affiliated colleges.
