About the university
It was the chronological twilight of the 1980s, a period of almost five years in the academic life of Mr. Gerardo Rodolfo Valverde Segura, who as an active professor at the Institute of Technology of Costa Rica in the Faculty of Business Administration had germinated in Its thinking purpose was the idea of building a university educational platform that could offer opportunities for professional growth to a large Carthaginian population who, due to lack of time for their jobs and personal obligations, were unable to find a career or a place in the incipient and prolific ITCR institution Already a pioneer in Carthage in this branch of university education. The seed in the thinking of Mr. Rodolfo Valverde Segura, initially took shape after immeasurable efforts and investment of resources, to give birth in 1981 to the university INCOSE, acronyms of the Costa Rican Institute of Accounting and Secretarial Sciences. This was the first step without knowing that eventually led him, given the success in academic quality and graduate training, to the greater adventure of establishing another educational house but of greater scope and professional depth: a private university. The challenge was enormous because it was considered that in Cartago the investment in infrastructure for commerce was risky and much less justified an incursion in the field of a company such as private university, considering the discouraging factor of the existence in the local center of the province , Far from being discouraged, Don Rodolfo Valverde Segura, fervently took hold of the preconceived idea, thus invested and leveraged himself financially to erect his prototype: The University of Cartago Florencio del Castillo was its original name with which it was born, giving its first halo of Life in the month of August of 1995, capturing after an epic information campaign ingeniously novel, the first thirty students who, when registering, reached out to this work properly of a Carthaginian for the Carthaginians in the center of Cartago, offering itself specifically in the races Of Education Sciences with emphasis in Preschool, Education Sciences with emphasis in I and II Cycles, Educational Administration, Business Administration and Human Resources Administration, culminating the insertion of the Law career.
