About the university
University of North is the youngest public university in the Republic of Croatia. 29 May 2015, the Croatian Parliament adopted at its 17th session of the Law on the transfer of founder's rights over the University of North to the Republic of Croatia, which is the University of North and formally became the eighth public university in Croatia. This created a series of new opportunities for the further development of the University, the cities that are the start, but also the region as a whole. The development project of establishing and building the University of northwestern Croatia dates back to the period of a little more than 13 years. 17 May 2001, the teachers and the management of electromechanical engineering school in Varazdin, with the approval of the relevant ministry and with the help of the city of Varazdin, established a vocational study of Electrical Engineering - University College accredited which is in a form of the aforementioned date operated at said high school. The foundation is registered in the same year as the public and its funding has taken the line Ministry. After several years of successful work, a sufficient number of enrolled students and the employment of the first teachers with the necessary elections in teaching positions, achieved the conditions for the establishment and transformation of high schools in the form of an independent institution. Thus, based on the permission to carry out activities of the Ministry of Science and Technology of 16 May 2002, the City Council of the City of Varazdin at its 28th session, held on 19 October 2002 the Commission adopted a decision on establishment of an institution called the "High School of Electrical Engineering" then with one study program: "Elect" and two orientations "Automation" and "Biomedical electronics", and as the seat of the new institution was selected locations in Križanićeva street in Varazdin, house number 33/6.
