About the university
The University of Kyrenia was founded in the city of Kyrenia, one of the most beautiful cities of Cyprus, in 2013 as the first university of the Eastern Mediterranean region that solely focused on aviation and maritime studies. Setting it as its vision to become the leading gear of higher education, the University of Kyrenia with its fully equipped infrastructure and superstructure has set forth to ensure quality in education and become a prominent institution of the first choice among the national and international higher education institutions by providing a variety of quality associate, undergraduate and graduate programs that aimed at contributing to the students and paving the way for them to steer the wheel towards outstanding success. The University of Kyrenia currently houses two vocational schools, a graduate school and four faculties consisting of Maritime Studies, Marine Management, Marine Sciences and Aviation & Space Sciences, and will further open 5 more faculties with 17 departments within one year. Its educational and training origin was based on the knowledge accumulation of the Faculty of Maritime Studies that established by its sister university, the Near East University, in 1978 as the first Faculty of Maritime Studies in Cyprus. Taking over the deep-rooted maritime education and training accumulation from its sister university in 2013, the University of Kyrenia has been structured as an ideal institution of higher education.
