About the university
The Dominican University O & M is a center of high studies founded on January 12, 1966 by a select group of professors headed by Dr. José Rafael Abinader. The University is completely private, financed with its own resources and sponsored by the O & M University Foundation. The O & M, as its students, teachers and graduates affectionately call it, arises in a stage of uncertainty and difficulties in the Dominican Republic. He began by providing short courses and technical level careers in the areas of accounting, administration, economics, marketing, sales and computing. Their enrollment was minimal, about 18 students enrolled in their first technical career, but the academic excellence shown from its beginnings provoked a rapid growth. At its 50th Anniversary on January 12, 2016, O & M, with about forty-six thousand students, is a fundamental part of our country's university education, being the alma mater of more than fifty thousand graduates in the different branches of knowledge. O & M's favorable reception reflects, among several factors, its quality in teaching, the relevance of its academic programs and the seriousness and responsibility it has shown in the course of its existence.
