About the university
More than 90 years of history, the University of the Armed Forces ESPE is considered one of the most emblematic of the country for its constant innovation and contribution to the productive development of Ecuador. Founded in 1922, the University is distinguished by providing practical solutions to the needs and concerns of Ecuadorian society, contributing to the generation of new knowledge through teaching, research and links with society. In 2014, it was cataloged by the prestigious World Ranking of QS Universities among the 250 best in Latin America and the fourth best in Ecuador. Currently, our university chairs the REDU (Network of Universities and Polytechnic Schools for Research and Postgraduate Studies) made up of more than 20 universities in Ecuador. The University is part of the Higher Education System of Ecuador, comprising the main campus in Sangolquí, Latacunga and Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, as well as the Special Academic Units and the Institute of Languages; Has more than 13,000 students, including civilians and military, of which 8,309 are men and 5,606 are women. It is a public higher education center regulated by the Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador and the Organic Law of Higher Education. After the signing of the Statute of creation, on June 26, 2013, and approved by the Council of Higher Education (CES).
