About the university
Bordeaux- III University was founded in 1971 as a result of the division into three of the former Bordeaux University reconstituted in 1896 . The project to relocate the faculty of letters, which was cramped in the Pasteur school building (the present Aquitaine museum ), was accepted in the 1960s. The move took place between 1966 and 1971, With the founding of the current university 6 , henceforth located on the campus of Pessac. The original plan ( 33,000 m 2 ) is relatively inadequate, given the increase in the number of students, resulting in a series of additions, including the construction of specialized research centers (Sciences Of the Man of Aquitaine in 1974, House of the Arts in 1994) 7 ; This does not prevent the university from being considered "saturated" since the 1990s, hence a new series of works. In 1990 Bordeaux III became known as the " Michel-de-Montaigne University " 8 . The university opened its doors abroad through numerous academic agreements, and organized its publishing activity with the foundation, in 1983 9 , of the University Press of Bordeaux (PUB). The university follows the major reforms, with the implementation of the LMD reform in 2005 and participation in the " University of Bordeaux " research and higher education center in 2007.
