The University of Nîmes is a university located in Nîmes in the department of Gard in France created in 2007, and is one of the five universities of the academy of Montpellier. It succeeds the University Center for Training and Research (CUFR) in Nîmes, created in 2002 on the basis of the regrouping of the local branches of the three universities of Montpellier. The components of the university are spread over four sites in the Nîmes agglomeration. Its main location is in Fort Vauban north of Nîmes city center; It has a secondary site in the Carmes in the city center, as well as an establishment in the Georges Besse scientific park in the south of the city. A fourth site, the Hoche site, opened its doors at the beginning of the 2013 academic year and takes place in an eco-district undergoing redevelopment, at the Place du Président Doumergue, near Hoche Street, east of the city center. She is also a member of the "Université Montpellier Sud de France" research and higher education center since its creation in 2009.
