About the university
The Conservatory of Arts and Crafts was established on October 10, 1794, at the initiative of the abbot Henri Gregoire, who proposed to the National Convention the creation of the Conservatory of Arts and Crafts, whose aim would be "to study and preserve machines and tools, drawings, models, books and various documentation of all existing Arts and crafts ". The National Convention of France supported this proposal almost immediately.
