The Regional School of Rennes was opened on 2 October 1905 in the premises of the Municipal School of Fine Arts. In 1984, the school was called "Ecole d'Architecture de Bretagne" and since 2005 "National School of Architecture of Brittany" (ENSAB). At present, it has the status of a public institution of an administrative nature which gives it the autonomy of a national higher education institution. The twenty French national superior schools of architecture are placed under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture and Communication. With 35 full-time teachers and associates, more than 80 temporary teachers, practitioners and 40 administrative officers, the school welcomes close to 700 students. On 4150 m² near the city center, it has a model workshop, photo and video laboratories, computer and reprography services and a documentation center.
