Sciences Po Toulouse

Sciences Po Toulouse is housed since 1956 in buildings of city center, 2 ter rue des Puits Creusés, in front of the university Toulouse 1 Capitole, to which the establishment is attached. The school suffers from the obsolescence and the crampedness of these premises, which hamper its daily functioning and prevent its development. In July 2010 , the situation worsened with the issuance by the Security Commission of an opinion that was unfavorable to the continuation of the operation, accompanied by a formal notice prior to an administrative closure. Only compensation measures (immediate work, presence of security guards, etc.) allowed the temporary operation of the premises to be continued for the reception of the public. Faced with this urgency, Provisional and / or permanent rehousing solutions were sought, allowing the location of a building at 10 Quai St-Pierre , opposite the Bazacle on the Garonne River, and close to the Manufacture des Tabacs, University Toulouse 1 Capitole. This building owned by EDF since the nationalization of the company was then about to be sold to a private developer, who was considering the construction of a luxury hotel. Alertée, the Toulouse Metropolitan Urban Community has agreed to make a pre-emption, to allow, after resale at the university, the installation of the IEP in this space, once it is refurbished. However, in July 2014, the Toulouse City Council issued a negative opinion on the establishment of the school on the Quai Saint-Pierre.
