About the university
n the late 1950s, Émile Durand, the dean of the Faculty of Science in Toulouse, launched the idea of creating an American-style campus to house the faculty of science; At the same time, it was decided to create a National Institute of Applied Sciences in Toulouse, attached to the Faculty of Science. The INSA is open in 1962 in the district of Rangueil. In the years that followed, many of the science faculty's teachings were transferred from the Jules-Guesde aisles to new installations, large lecture halls, and numerous classrooms. It is also possible to create offices for teachers and research laboratories. Along the campus of the Faculty of Science is constituted what is called the complex scientific Rangueil, in which settled schools like the National School of Aeronautics and Space (known The name of "Supaéro" and became the ISAE in the context of a grouping with ENSICA ) or ENAC , but also research laboratories such as LAAS , or CESR .
