About the university
250 years of history, a unique pedagogical model, an openness to the world through numerous partnerships with the best universities, leading cultural institutions and the most innovative companies, place the School within the restricted circle of the grandes écoles Art and creation. The National School of Decorative Arts, founded in 1766, occupies a prominent place in the history of creation, decorative arts and then design in France. It was officially opened in 1767 by letters patent of King Louis XV. Its goal was to develop arts-related occupations and thus increase the quality of the products of the industry. It became the Royal School of Drawing and Mathematics for the Mechanical Arts in 1823. Over time, its initial mission was refined and its ambition asserted.
