About the university
The first university relocation of the region was set up by the University of Lille that sets up in 1963 a university college of science education at Calais. A project to transform this into a university college of law proposed in 1971 , between the neighborhoods of Fort Nieulay and Blériot, but still no action at the time. The first establishment in Calais is completed by the University of Lille 1 , one of the universities that succeeded the University of Lille after its split in 1970 , by the opening of a diploma course of DEUG B in 1976 . Other components of this university also relocate some of their teachings, such as the Béthune University Institute of Technology, which opened a department in Calais in 1971 , and the University Institute of Technology in Lille, which opens a department in Dunkirk . This last dunkerquoise settlement was completed in 1985 when the University of Lille I opened a DEUG A training course there . The different departments of IUT were united in 1988 in a single institution, the University Institute of Technology of the littoral, under tutelage of the university of Lille.
