The School of Signals ( ETRS ), formerly the Higher and Application School of Communication (ESAT), is a military school with a technical vocation. Located on the campus of Rennes - Beaulieu , in the commune of Cesson - Sévigné , it is open to the personnel of the French Ministry of Defense and other countries . It is the parent company of the communications arm and trains officers, non-commissioned officers, non-commissioned members and civilian personnel. The ex-ESAT was born of the regrouping of the schools of the existing transmissions in 1994 . It was formed from: The Army Electronics College (ESEAT) on the same site in Cesson-Sévigné; The school of application of the transmissions (EAT) coming from Montargis and replaced by a school of Gendarmerie; The School of NCOs (ESOAT) from Agen and replaced by the 48th Signal Regiment. The school took its current name on August 1 , 2009 and is now turning to cyber defense .
