About the university

The IPC was created in 1969 under the name “Institut de Philosophie Comparée” (Institute of Comparative Philosophy). Maintaining the abbreviation “IPC”, it has for several years brought together “Denominational Faculties of Philosophy and Psychology”. It is therefore a University establishment that prepares students for State diplomas in these two disciplines. Its current name is: “IPC. Facultés Libres de Philosophie et Psychologie (Denominational Faculties of Philosophy and Psychology). The aim of the training provided is to give a solid general grounding through the analysis of philosophical problems. A far cry from anything that smacks of system, this input makes it possible to shed light on all contemporary problematics on the basis of four main “Chairs”, which are logic, the philosophy of nature and man, ethics and politics, and metaphysics. Our “openings” in philosophy and psychology are many and various, as the pace at the IPC is more akin to an École (follow-up, supervision, continuous monitoring, etc.) than a traditional faculty. In philosophy, it is necessary to acquire certain working methods.
