About the university
The École nationale supérieure Louis-Lumière (ENS Louis-Lumière) is a school of cinema, photography and sound French since 2012 at the Cité du Cinema in Saint-Denis. This facility was developed from the following perspectives: The strengthening of ties with professional image and sound professionals to promote the professional integration of students and the enlargement of the populations concerned by the training activities of the School, in a very dynamic territory in terms of production Cinematographic and audiovisual. The Cité du Cinéma's website enables the development of synergies between training, applied research and industry in the heart of the center thus constituted, in the immediate vicinity of the universities of Paris VIII and Paris XIII and in the extension of the projects already developed in Within the Cap Digital Regional Competitiveness Cluster and Labex Arts-H2H. Created in 1926 under the leadership of Louis Lumiere or Léon Gaumont, initially the "École Technique de photographie et cinema" and then the "Ecole Nationale de photographie et cinematographie" (ENPC), this school 85 rue de Vaugirard in Paris until 1973, hence his nickname "Vaugirard", then rue Rollin, in the 5th arrondissement until 1989. From 1989 to July 2012, the school occupied an 8,000 m2 building located in Noisy-le-Grand (Seine-Saint-Denis), within an economic and university system that included, among others, the Paris- East Marne-la-Vallée and the National Institute of Audiovisual (INA).
