About the university
The School of Fine Arts of Reims was created in 1748, under the impulse of Jean-Louis Levesque de Pouilly to "illuminate the industry". Installed in a wing of the current City Hall, students study in the midst of works by Cranach, Dürer, Lebrun, Poussin, Rubens ... from the personal collection of its director: Antoine Ferrand de Monthelon, to be paid At the Musée des Beaux-Arts de la Ville, created in 1794. Renamed the Ecole Supérieure d'Art et de Design in 1992, the current establishment, located at 12 rue Libergier, is a family affair and always gives equal importance to the relationship Of Art with its social and economic environment. Since January 1, 2011, the school is a public institution of cultural co-operation (EPCC). Its founding members are the City of Reims, the State, the Champagne-Ardenne Region and the Reims Champagne-Ardenne University (URCA) to which Reims Métropole has added in 2013. This change is accompanied by an important pedagogical development with the Superior Training in Culinary Design and the opening of a nursery of art and design companies in October 2011.
