About the university
The regional art school of Rouen was created by the painter Jean-Baptiste Descamps in 1741 and received official recognition in 1750. After the Revolution, the school was reopened in 1804. The school and the " Philippe Zacharie's studio installed in the Museum of Antiquities suffered a fire on April 21, 18941. She stayed there until the summer of 2014, to settle in a former college of the district of the Grand'Mare. The school closed in 1811, after the death of Lemaitre, to open again in 1824. Its premises will be successively located rue de Bordeaux, rue Bernardin de Saint-Pierre, rue de la Mailleraye, then in 1881 in the old A masonic temple at 44 rue Jules-Lecesne. In 1927, she moved to rue Anatole-France, then in 1973, to a disused primary school on the rue Dumé-d'Aplemont. The construction of new premises, located at 65 Demidoff Street, began in the late 1980s. The building was inaugurated in 1991.
