About the university
The National Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology (INSTN) is one of 210 French engineering schools authorized to award an engineering degree. Founded in 1956, it is attached to the Atomic Energy Commission and is under the joint supervision of the ministries responsible for national education and industry. Its mission is to transmit the knowledge and know-how developed within the CEA and more generally within the Nation, in the nuclear field, with a view to maintaining expertise and renewing skills in research and industry . It was created in 1956, when France embarked on a vast nuclear program and on the initiative of Minister Georges Guille, with the vocation of training engineers and researchers in advanced scientific and technological disciplines Hitherto not provided by universities and engineering schools.
