About the university
The National Institute of Heritage (Inp) is a French higher education institution of the Ministry of Culture and Communication. Its mission is the recruitment by competition and the initial training of curators of the heritage of the State, the territorial civil service and the city of Paris as well as the selection, also by competition, and the training of heritage restorers authorized to Work on public collections. Training in a single establishment with these two closely complementary occupations is unique in Europe. Each year, Inp welcomes between 40 and 50 conservative students, as well as about twenty restorers. Inp also offers a very wide range of permanent training courses. It is also a place for cultural dissemination through conferences and symposiums, which are opportunities to work with other heritage and university institutions, both French and foreign. Finally, INP inscribes its missions and actions in a network of international cooperations, sending its students internship abroad, receiving foreign trainees, and exporting its training and expertise. Currently, the management of the establishment and the department of curators are installed in the gallery Colbert in Paris and the restaurant department in Aubervilliers on the site of the manufacture of Allumettes.
