About the university
Created in March 2007, the UEB is a Pôle de recherche et d'enseignement supérieure (PRES - Research and Higher Education Hub), and was part of the first wave of such hubs to be given the government's seal of approval. The UEB brings together 28 higher education and research establishments (universities, grandes écoles, research bodies, and university teaching hospitals) from all over Brittany. It has its origins in the long-standing partnership and networking activities that had already been initiated between the different organisations within Brittany's higher education structure.
