About the university
The Evangelical University of Higher Education is the only evangelical higher education institution in Hungary. Although its name has changed several times over the years, the overwhelming task of the institute that has over 400 years of history has remained the forerunner of its work. The year 1557 on the seal marks the foundation of the Sopron Latin School opened in the spirit of Reformation, later the Evangelical Theological College of Sopron, which in 1923 received the University of Pécs Erzsébet University of Sopron's Evangelical Histology Kara. In 1950, the Evangelical Charity Card - like the other ecclesiastical higher education institutions - was separated from the university, and from then on it was the name of the Evangelical Theological Academy. After the unquestioned status of legal status in Budapest in 1951 and almost four decades, in 1990 the Parliament was listed as state-recognized non-state universities. Since January 1, 1998, the name of the institution has been the Evangelical University of Hittite. State accreditation has been in place since 1998.
