About the university
IBAB is an initiative of Department of IT, BT and S & T, Government of Karnataka and had been designated as a 'Centre of Excellence for Research and Training in Bioinformatics' of the Department of Information Technology, Government of India. IBAB is now in its own 20-acre campus in Electronics City with excellent infrastructure, students' hostel and other amenities. It has recently added several state of the art facilities to its bioinformatics and biotechnology laboratories to enhance its training and research capabilities. IBAB also hosts GANIT Labs, a multi institutional public-private partnership under the aegis of Department of Information Technology, Government of India, and Department of IT, BT and ST, Government of Karnataka, that works in the area of genome sequencing and data analysis.
