About the university
Degree College Pulwama is one of the biggest colleges in the J&K State enrolling more than 6000 students. Being a big co-educational institution, more than 45% of total students enrolled are females. It was established in the year 1986, with a few Arts subjects at that time. As many as 252 students were enrolled for academic session 1986 and the college was housed in a middle school building for fifteen long years. The college was shifted to the present campus in May 2001. The science subjects were included during the academic session 2002 and computer science was incorporated in the curricular network of the institution in 2006. The commerce stream has been introduced during the academic session 2010. The College is located on Pulwama – Newa Road at a distance of 1.5 Kilometers from Pulwama Bus Stand and 34 Kilometers in the south of Srinagar city. The college is presently spread over 66 Kanals of land through which a perennial fresh water stream flows bestowing scenic beauty to the campus. The location & scenic beauty of this college renders the entire process of teaching –learning into a desirable and pleasurable activity.
