About the university
Aringar Anna Government Arts College is located at the foot hills of Vadachennimalai in a 22 hectare area. The location is very serene and has a Natural architectural appearance. It is just 10 km distance from Attur, towards Kallakurichi in the Chennai –Salem National Highway. The nearest approachable bus stop is Kattukottai on the National High way. The college gives more importance for imparting quality Education and Personality development. This college was started by honorable minister Thiru K. Raja Ram on 3 rd July 1972. Initially 3 UG programme were started through Tamil and English Medium. As the college has no prober building and other necessary infrastructure, the college was operated in a temporary location. Foundation Stone for the construction of a permanent building for the college was laid on 12th March 1972 by honorable Governor Mr. K. K. Shaw. The initial cost, nearly Rs. 5 lakh, for constructing the building, was borne by the Salem District Financial Committee.
