The Bhilai Institute of Technology (BIT) (Hindi: भिलाई प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान – दुर्ग) is a private engineering college located in Durg, Chhattisgarh, India. It is the first self-financed engineering college in Central India. Established in 1986, It is affiliated to Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University and approved by All India Council for Technical Education. BIT-Durg was established in 1986, it was affiliated to Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur and started offering Bachelor of Engineering in four disciplines with an intake capacity of 180 students. In 2005, Institute get affiliated to newly formed Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University, Bhilai. The institution has since grown to an intake strength of 780, and now offers Bachelor of Engineering in seven disciplines, as well as postgraduate degrees, such as the Master of Computer Application and Master of Business Administration. It is one of the premier institutions in Central India and ranks among top 50 engineering institutions in India.
