About the university
The College of Veterinary Medicine was founded in 1976. The programs of study in the college for five years lead to a bachelor degree in veterinary medicine and surgery (BVMS). The programs offer theoretical, practical and clinical experiences in different aspects of veterinary medicine and surgery. The graduated veterinarians are expected to serve the community with regards to animal health, welfare and production as well as issues of the environment and public health. Rich, varied and extensive livestock programs in Mosul and its surroundings and referrals from nearby areas provide a wealth of clinical material for professional education and research in veterinary medicine and surgery. The College of Veterinary Medicine is dedicated to innovation and excellence in teaching and research, and offers diagnostic and therapeutic services to benefit animal health, welfare, productivity as well as human health by controlling zoonotic diseases. The college is committed to a clean environment and to be recognized for high standards of services and disseminate scientific knowledge in veterinary medicine, animal production, public health and zoonotic diseases.
