About the university
The International University of St. Thomas Aquinas (PUST), also known as the Angelicum in honor of its patron saint Thomas Aquinas (who in the school tradition from the fourteenth century also known as Doctor Angelicus), is The teaching and research institute of the Dominican Order in Rome, and one of the leading pontifical universities in the world. The Angelicum directly depends on the Pope for his mandate and the papal university status. This is highlighted in the Apostolic Constitution by Sapientia Christiana, which clarifies the parameters of Church authority and academic freedom. Angelicum is administered by the Order of Preachers; She holds degrees in Theology, Philosophy, Canon Law and Social Sciences as well as certificates and degrees in related fields. Courses are offered in Italian and, for some programs, in English. In his faculties there are both religious and lay professors and students from different countries in the world. Angelicum preserves the authentic Dominican tradition of philosophy and theology within the Pontifical Universities.
