About the university
On May 2, 1895, the Democratic periodical "La luce" announced the constitution of the "La Cetra" Society: (...) to which he has applauded the whole citizenship for the noble purpose it proposes. The Direction came to the determination to open a Free School of Archery Instruments as it opens, thus limiting it for now to eight pupils who are in the city, divided as follows: Four Violins, One Violet, One Violet, Two Contrabasses. In 1895 Philharmonics President was Mayor Paris, Secretary to Mr Camillo Rodomonte and Vice-Secretary Don Ciccio Rubini. From the early 1900s at the beginning of the First World War, "La Cetra", among other things related to financial difficulties, managed to have its own statutory organization. After World War I, the Society made a great leap of quality. In previous periods there was always some confusion in the management of the Philharmonic, which for some was oscillating between a private organization, to be used on large occasions, and a scientific institution for the preparation of professionals, and in public opinion was represented now As an association of music friends and now as a school for the formation of elements for the city band.
